Golden Onion Butter Rice (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Rice Layer

01 - 2 cups broth or water (chicken or vegetable)
02 - 1½ cups jasmine rice, known for its fragrance

→ Flavor Boosters

03 - 1 big onion, cut into thin circles
04 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
05 - 2 tablespoons butter, split into halves

→ Spices and Toppings

06 - 1 teaspoon of salt
07 - ½ teaspoon black pepper, ground fresh
08 - A pinch of garlic powder is optional (1 teaspoon)
09 - A sprinkle of finely chopped parsley to decorate (1 tablespoon, optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Heat a large pan on medium. Toss in 1 tablespoon of butter and the olive oil. Slide in those onion rings with a touch of salt, then cook slowly while stirring now and then until they're sweet and golden—about 12 to 15 minutes.
02 - While your onions go golden, rinse the rice with cool water until it’s no longer cloudy. This helps remove extra starch.
03 - Set a separate pot on medium heat. Melt the other tablespoon of butter, throw in the clean rice, and stir it around so every grain gets a buttery hug.
04 - Pour your choice of water or broth into the pot. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Heat to a rolling boil, then turn it low, cover, and let it silently bubble for 15 to 18 minutes until all the liquid is gone and the rice is soft.
05 - Take the pot off the stove and leave it covered to sit undisturbed for 5 minutes. After that, use a fork to fluff the rice up lightly.
06 - Combine your dreamy golden onions with the fluffy rice, tossing gently. Add a sprinkle of parsley on top if you’d like, then enjoy it while it's hot!

# Notes:

01 - Broth instead of water makes a bigger flavor punch.
02 - Caramelizing onions slowly unlocks the best sweet taste—don’t speed it up!
03 - Rinsing rice beforehand gives you the fluffiest results.
