Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F). Place parchment paper over your baking tray.

Stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar, zest, and salt in a large bowl. Make a center well, add your egg, milk, and melted butter, then gently mix with a fork. Move to a work surface and knead lightly until the dough is smooth.

Form the dough into thin ropes around 5-6 inches long. Shape them into circles or twist into knots before spacing them out on your prepped tray.

Cook for 15-18 minutes till edges are just golden. Cool them completely before adding any topping.

Sift the icing sugar and mix with the lemon juice and milk to reach your desired consistency. Spread it on cooled cookies or dust lightly with sugar.
