French Toast Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
02 - 1 loaf of sourdough or Italian bread (about 1 pound)
03 - 8 large eggs
04 - 3 cups of half-and-half
05 - 3/4 cup of light brown sugar
06 - A tablespoon of vanilla extract
07 - 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
08 - 3/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
09 - 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg (ground)
10 - 2 ounces of chopped nuts
11 - 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
12 - Maple syrup to drizzle on top
13 - Fresh berries for garnish or to serve

# Instructions:

01 - Spray a 9x13 dish with cooking spray to coat it evenly
02 - Rip the bread into small chunks and spread them around the baking dish
03 - Beat together the eggs, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, spices, and salt until smooth
04 - Pour the mix over the bread, press it down gently, cover the dish, and chill it in the fridge overnight
05 - Combine the nuts, flour, sugar, spices, and butter until the mixture is crumbly
06 - Add the crumble on top and bake it for 45-50 minutes at 350°F until golden brown

# Notes:

01 - Can sit in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking
02 - Needs at least 1 hour to soak properly
03 - Change things up with different nuts or types of bread
