Boil the water, then toss in the tea bags and spices. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to get the flavors going.

Turn off the heat and mix in the honey and vanilla. Stir so the honey melts in. Take out the vanilla and the tea bags.

Leave the chai out at room temperature till it's cool. If you're in a rush, chill it with an ice bath.

Froth the milk using a frother or shake it up in a closed jar. Or, warm it up just a bit and whisk it.

Add ice to your glass, pour the cooled tea so it fills about two-thirds, and top it off with the foamy milk. If you’re skipping the vanilla bean, pour in the extract now.
