Easy Cajun Sloppy Joes (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 rib celery, finely chopped
02 - 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
03 - 1 pound ground chicken
04 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 onion, finely chopped
06 - 1 tablespoon oil
07 - 1 tablespoon butter
08 - 3 tablespoons cajun seasoning

→ Sauce

09 - 4 burger rolls
10 - 1/2 cup heavy cream
11 - 1/2-1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
12 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
13 - 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
14 - 1/2 cup crushed tomatoes

→ Optional Toppings

15 - Shredded lettuce
16 - Sour cream
17 - Slaw
18 - Sliced cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Heat up the butter and oil. Toss in pepper, celery, and onion. Let them cook until they're soft, about 7 to 8 minutes.
02 - Stir in ground chicken and break it into small bits as it cooks. After about 5 minutes, mix in the garlic and cajun spices.
03 - Pour in crushed tomatoes, brown sugar, cream, and hot sauce. Lower the heat.
04 - Keep stirring every now and then for about 15 minutes while it thickens. Sprinkle in the salt when it's nearly done.
05 - Lightly toast the burger rolls and pair them with any toppings you like.

# Notes:

01 - You can simmer longer or shorter, depending on how thick you want it.
02 - For best texture, toast the rolls right before eating.
03 - Adjust salt since cajun seasoning might already be salty.
