Turn your oven on to 350°F (177°C). Cover the bottom and sides of an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper.

Heat butter in the microwave until it melts, about 60 seconds. Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes so it isn’t too hot.

Stir together the flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.

Whisk the cooled melted butter with brown sugar. Mix in the egg, mashed bananas, and vanilla until smooth.

Slowly combine the dry mix with the wet ingredients. Gently fold in most of the chocolate chips, leaving some aside for later.

Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan, then sprinkle the saved chocolate chips on top. Bake for 30-35 minutes. The center should be set and a toothpick should come out clean.

Let it cool completely in the pan. Use the parchment paper to lift it out before cutting into pieces.
